In 1668, Newton used a concave mirror to actually make the first reflective telescope. He never actually made the telescope, which was to have used a parabolic (primary) and an ellipsoidal (secondary) mirror. The smaller side of the lens is inserted into the telescope. He provided a description of the reflecting telescope in 'Optica Promota,' which was published in 1663. You will need the small eyepiece and the ring cap as shown in the image below. You will now compare the view using three different eyepieces. Otherwise, you will not be able to focus the telescope correctly. Be sure to put the end of the focusing tube interior to the first notch in the telescope tube. Find and explain your method for determining the focal length of the objective lens.
